March Elegies:
If you were music,
I would listen to you ceaselessly
And my low spirits would brighten up.

If you were a star,
I would gaze by the window till dawn,
And peace would enter my soul.

How cool is my corner store guy? Well, I'll tell you. He stocks various types of Sobe drinks, but not my favorite (Tsunami -- tastes like a creamsicle.) I told him, "Hey if you get that Tsunami type Sobe I'll probably buy a bottle every day." And you know what? He did it! Thank you, John!

More good news: Brian lost his job and I have bronchitis. See you in May.

Good-bye, Joey...

Okay, here's a better review of "Memento" from the Sundance film festival. I am not kidding. You must see this movie. It's not just a movie. It is amazing. I wish there were a lot more flicks like this....

Just got back from seeing "Memento" and I am telling you this is a must see flick. It's the best movie I've seen in a long time and it's so challenging to the viewer and makes you think. It's original and creative and.. damn, trust me. Read the stuff, get your tickets and -go-.

Here's a pretty good review.

Amy Tan has a new book out. Amy Tan has a new book out! The Bonesetter's Daughter. I'm not sure if I can wait for the library to get it. I just love her.

And at the beginning of the book -- two packets of pages written in Chinese calligraphy. How cool is that?

Playoff hockey: Gotta love it -- fast, hard-hitting, serious, solid. It spoils me so much that I can't watch the start of the next season. And yes, since the Sabres won I have stopped shaving my legs again!

I saw Bridget Jones's Diary last night, and for some reason I thought it was so funny that Colin Firth played Mark Darcy because he was Mr. Darcy in "Pride and Prejudice" and his character was about as exciting -and- he had the same sideburns!

Also, even though I hated his character, this is probably the first time Hugh Grant has ever impressed me in a movie. He plays a good prick.

Oh, and I only wish there were a store up the street open all night that sold lovely hard-backed journals. Hah.

A reality show about Boot Camp? Oh please. The thing is, I have been to boot camp and it wasn't even interesting enough to write about every day.

Basically it's this:
Listen to some jerks shout all day.

Don't get enough time to eat.

Clean, clean, clean the barracks.

Polish your boots.

Do a zillion push-ups and run while wearing combat boots.

Try to remember not to talk back or ask questions, unless you want more push-ups.

Find religion because that hour at church is a much needed break.

Clean your weapon. Clean your weapon. Love your weapon. Shoot your weapon. Take apart your weapon. Put your weapon back together. Clean your weapon.

Camp out in the cold, take sponge baths, sit on a toilet right next to another person.

It's eight weeks of sleep deprivation, boredom, bad food, annoying people and kiwi boot polish.

And people want to see this on tv? Huh? I'd rather watch a reality show about kids doing time in detention.

No, I haven't actually watched "Boot Camp" because like I said, I've been there and I'm sure it's all over-dramatized and the people are the very whiney types that I wanted to punch half of the time. You know, the ones who got the whole platoon getting extra push-ups.
