1426 -- Emily Dickinson:
The pretty Rain from
those sweet Eaves
Her unintending Eyes
Took her own Heart,
including ours,
By innocent Surprise

March Elegies:
If you were music,
I would listen to you ceaselessly
And my low spirits would brighten up.
If you were a star,
I would gaze by the window till dawn,
And peace would enter my soul.
-- Anna Akhmatova

January 23rd:
Oh, I am -so- ready to join the Heartless Bitches. My one-liner is going to be "Do you wear a cup when you sit on that fence?" I wonder if they'll let me in...
I got tickets to the Do what?! arts festival on February 3rd. Yes, Gordon Down of the Tragically Hip will be reading poetry, as will a friend of a friend's, and yes, Kathy Jo (of "Yinzer in Europe" fame) will be joining me.
Thanks so much, Elizabeth, for showing me hats of meat. That combined with the bucket outside of the Lahore Halal Meat Market -- well, I'm off red meat forever, and all other meat for a long time.
January 19th:
Happy Birthday to my grandma. Thus making her a pig by the Chinese zodiac:
You are a splendid companion, an intellectual with a very strong need to set difficult goals and carry them out. You are sincere, tolerant, and honest but by expecting the same from others, you are incredibly naive. Your quest for material goods could be your downfall.
I think raising two kids during the depression got her past the "material goods" thing though.
January 18th
From "The Unemployed Philosophers Club" I must, must, must have the Virginia Woolf beanie. (Yes, to keep in my room, ha ha ha.)
Brian put up some new beautiful pictures of our happy little family. Go here and click on the first five links to the left of the frame to see them. (Trust me, they're that good.)
January 15th:
Happy Martin Luther King Day!
Reasons why I am proud to live in Canada:
First legal same-sex marriage and
Toronto Life chose a philanthropist as its "Man of the Year," not some untrustworthy politician the way Time magazine did.
January 14th:
So, today is Dave Grohl's birthday, my one year anniversary and the Raiders are playing in the AFC Championship. I don't know that I can handle this much in one day...
Random -- terms people have searched on and found this page:
Molson Joe Canadian; Wife Secret Photos; Audrey Hepburn Pictures; Cobain Birth Chart; Femgeek; I Hate Ed Belfour; Marge Simpson Sex Stories (?!); Her Broken Ankle; Miroslav Satan Pictures; I Am Not Canadian; Sexy Hockey Players; Personal Prayer; Kratt; Baby Poem; Jack Kerouac Scattered Poems; Louise Pohle-Bjolin (!); Broken Ankle Cartoon; Broken Ankle Numb; Rich Gannon; Eye Toronto Sasha; Kicked My Dog; Isaak Dinesen.
Hockey, broken ankles, literature, Canada and some humour... yeah, that's me. I still have no idea about the Marge Simpson sex stories!
I am hopelessly addicted to the stor trooper page. Here's my latest me:

I made one for my kid too.
Also I'm currently addicted to tequila filled chocolates, available only at the dollar store on Coxwell, but I limit myself to one per day.
January 6th:
I was looking for the lyrics to a song about "hockey hair," and can you believe that there are two different songs? Hockey Hair and Ice Hockey Hair. I've only heard the first one, but I think the "ice" song must be better because it's about a girl...
She's got Ice hokey hair
It's instomatic and it has such flair
And when the puck hits the back of the cage
She feels the tingle of a quiet rage
Dolphins drown in a sea of Raiders: Oakland 27, Miami 0. YES!!! Raiders are going to the superbowl, I just know it!
January 4th:
Woohoo! Alternative literature @ Bella is finally up and ready to go. That's the stuff I've been working on (and not working on) for months now. Yes, I'm excited.. go have a look, okay?
What religion are you? Here's the thing, of course I'm Catholic, and even if I change religions I'll still be Catholic. (Like if I become a Canadian citizen I'll still be American.) Anyway, I took the quiz and found out that I'm actually agree 100% with Unitarian-Universalism and 95% with neo-Paganism.
Stomach bugs:
I think I have a virus, or maybe I've been carsick since Tuesday at 2pm. When I get sick like this I imagine Clem and Bert (pictured above) from Santo Bugito buzzing around my intestines creating havoc. That's one of my all-time favorite cartoons. I wish I had taped it. Maybe I'll order some. For now I'll just Color Amelia the dragonfly and learn Spanish from Clem and Bert.
January 1st:
Happy New Year!!
Resolution #1: Get a new haircut (maybe like Téa's.)
#2: Write a book.
#3: Think of another resolution.
Elizabeth, of "scr@wls" and "Atropine" fame is back with a new journal. More art and less words this time, and it's all very good. Welcome back.
